Kids' Accounts
West Virginia Central Credit Union has accounts just for young members that make it easy to save.
Share Accounts
Like regular share accounts, it only takes $5.00 to open an account, but Kids' Account holders pay no membership fee and begin earning dividends with a $5.00 balance instead of the $25.00 minimum required in a regular share account.
Certificates
Young credit union members may open a certificate with $500.00, instead of the $1,000.00 required for other certificates.
Kids' Accounts: 4:ME Accounts
What is it?
Youth 4 Money Education
Checking & Savings Accounts
What’s it for?
To teach your kids to manage money, while you look over their shoulder and cheer them on.
How’s it work?
Sign up your child in a 4:ME account. We’ll fix them up with four things:
- savings account, *
- checking account with checks,
- a debit card, and
- online account access.
What?
What if they get out of control with that debit card?? That’s the great part! You, the parent, co-sign on their account. You control how much is in the account, which limits the risk allowed on the card, and you help them learn how to manage their accounts.
But, I could use some help, myself…Even better. We’ll provide a couple of entertaining and informative classes geared to them. They MUST take the classes to advance to new levels of account responsibility. And you may attend with them. So you just might learn a few things, too.
*Savings account may be created without attendance at classes. Deposits in either account may be made the first Monday of each month in Edison math classes.
